A Word of Encouragement

Grace, Hope & Peace, Friend;

Possibly written toward the end of his life, David wrote,

I raise my eyes toward the mountains. Where will my help come from?

Psalm 121:1 (CEB)

Isn't that a common question for most of us? We look around us at the countless things we have to do daily - the mountains we have to climb - and feel inadequate. We wonder who is going to help us. "Where will my help come from?"

Where do you turn for help? As children, we often turned to our parents for help. As we got older, we added friends and neighbors; Then coworkers and finally we came back to asking our children for help. But no matter what our age, all of us need help at times.

David - the powerful king of Israel - continued, "My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth." (Psalm 121:2) Who better than the Creator of the universe is there to rely on for help? Looking back at his own experiences, and God's help through them, David wrote,

He will not allow your foot to slip; He who watches over you will not slumber.

Behold, He who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord is your protector; The Lord is your shade on your right hand.

The sun will not beat down on you by day, nor the moon by night.

The Lord will protect you from all evil; He will keep your soul.

The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in from this time and forever.

Psalm 121:2-8

My Creator helps me climb mountains.

So the New Testament urges us,

Therefore let’s approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace for help at the time of our need.

Hebrews 4:16

Elohim my Ozer - God my helper - Thank You for promising to help me. Give me the wisdom and faith to trust You when I feel inadequate.

The One Who called you is faithful and will do what He promised.

1 Thessalonians 5:24 (NLV)

Look to Him for help,
